According to traditional Chinese medicine, the formula is traditionally used to support harmony between yin and yang energies and to maintain internal balance when opposing influences are present within the organism.

In TCM theory, the Terminal Yin (JUE YIN) layer is associated with the dynamic balance between warming and cooling processes in the body. When this balance is disturbed, discomfort may arise.
