Description according to traditional Chinese medicine: This is a modification of the original traditional Chinese herbal mixture LONG DAN XIE GAN WAN, adjusted to meet today’s needs. This herbal mixture cleans the heat from the liver GAN RE, which means that it eliminates hot moisture SHI/RE and fire from the liver GAN HUO. In our society heat in the liver GAN RE is a very common problem because of stress and suppressed emotions, which block the liver GAN QI ZHI. Each block is transformed into heat RE over time and finishes the job together with “good and healthy” food – i.e. the heat and moisture mentioned above are formed along with fire on the liver and gall bladder pathway GAN/DAN SHI/RE. This condition of an “overpressurized cooker” is manifested in 2 ways – either the liver discharges the excess heat through the top, where it climbs into the head, or through the bottom, where the heat and moisture are eliminated through urine and stools.

If the heat rises to the head and aggravates the soul, it results in the following symptoms: headaches located on one side of the head or behind the eyes or at the top of the head, migraine with nausea or vomiting, vertigo, ringing in the ears or tinnitus, hearing impairment, red and hot eyes, irritability, short temper, insomnia, pain under the ribs, constipation with dry hard stools, red face and bitterness in the mouth. In that case it is often used with the herbal mixture Loosening of Strained Bowstring (code 112), which pushes the ascending YANG down from the upper burner and feeds YIN of the liver and kidneys; this makes the two mixtures and excellent combination for the treatment of migraine, hypertension, tinnitus, insomnia, etc., but they could all be caused by the reasons mentioned above! To unblock the stagnating qi in the liver, which then changes into heat, the pill of Gentian is often used along with another excellent herbal mixture, Calming of Rough Water (code 062), which unblocks stagnation and feeds the blood in the liver, calming down the soul and suppressing irritability and short temper.

If the moisture and heat in the liver and gall bladder descend to the lower burner, the following symptoms may appear: gynaecological inflammations and discharges which are odorous, yellowish, itchy, swelling and itching of the vagina, fungal diseases, genital herpes and eczema, premature menstruation with purple red blood, testicular inflammations and swelling in men, urinary and renal inflammations (small amounts of yellow urine), gall bladder and kidney stones and jaundice. It is often used against gynaecological disorders together with the herbal mixture Dam of Yellow River (code 111) or Calming of Rough Water (code 062), against constipation with Filling of Dry Riverbed (code 091), against skin disorders (eczema, psoriasis – see Skin disorders) we have a special variant of the Pills of Gentian intended specifically for the skin and is aptly called Sloughing of the Snake Skin (code 019).

Packaging: 100 tablets / 30 g (100% natural, natural cellulose max. 1% is the only binding agent; made from concentrated herbs at a ratio of 5:1, i.e. 5 g of dried herbs are used per gram of herbal tablets)
