What is DMG and its effect in children with developmental disorders.
DMG (dimethylglycine) is a relatively recently discovered sweet-tasting substance. It is a natural, simple building substance with no known side effects. It is classified as a B vitamin and is referred to as B15. Currently, much research is being done to understand it and it continues to grow in popularity. Increased interest in this substance was triggered by two Russian researchers (M. G. Blumen and T. L. Belyakov) who published research work documenting significant improvements in speech in 12 of a group of 15 mentally handicapped children who had previously been unable to communicate through speech. The children were administered a substance known by various names, such as calcium pangamate or pangamic acid or vitamin B15. The children not only increased their vocabulary but also began to use simple sentences. Also, their mental state as a whole improved - they were able to concentrate better, show more interest in toys and games. Subsequent research has revealed that the underlying factor behind the success of calcium pangamate is DMG. Shortly after the results were published, psychiatrist Allan Cott visited Moscow and brought back to his homeland (the USA) a small dose of pangamic acid, which he administered to many children in his practice, some of whom were autistic. Many of Cott's young patients reacted in the same way as the Russian children. One mother wrote: "It is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in my life. (The child) repeats words and answers questions...".
The effect of the substance is noticeable on the child usually within a week. For some children, dramatic changes occur after 24 hours. The most obvious positive change, after DMG, is the improvement in speech. Very often parents also notice an improvement in behaviour.
Other results from the application of DMG are from the Research Centre for Troubled Children in Korea. They tried DMG on 39 autistic children aged 3-7 years over a period of 3 months with the following results:

8 children had sleep problems in the first two weeks
6 children were more active during the first two weeks of the experiment
The active substance DMG does not affect only the psyche and only in the child. Its positive effect is also generally known on immunity. When the substance was administered to laboratory rabbits, the animals' response to infection improved by 300 - 1000%. The substance also exerts a lipotropic effect, lowering blood cholesterol and preventing fatty deposits in the liver. It helps in the elimination of harmful substances from the body, prolongs the life of cells. It is used in the prevention of atherosclerosis, as a protective agent of polluted environment, against aging of the organism, as an auxiliary agent in cirrhosis of the liver and in heart diseases. It reduces the distressing effects of asthma. For athletes, it increases the body's resistance. It can be used to dampen the effects of stress reactions, to protect heart and blood vessel disorders associated with hypoxia, to significantly slow down sclerosing processes in the body, in liver diseases and to protect them.
